Augmentations are technological implants used in the world of Observer. By insertion through a specific medical procedure (established since 2034, during the Cybernetic Revolution) and the help of nanite technology to prevent biological rejection, these implants allow people to replace several parts of their bodies (both diseased and perfectly healthy) in order to access physical and celebral advantages, and so go beyond human limitations. However, there are some negative and collateral sides of their usage: the two major ones are represented by the Nanophage and the Augmentation Dependency Syndrome. In order to prevent the occurrence of nanite instability due to a prolonged use of implants, subjects equipped with augmentations must take a strict controlled dosage (on a regular base) of Synchrozine, a powerful augmentation stabilizer. Synchrozine is dispensed through a 500 milligrams vial. All augmentations are produced by Chiron Incorporated. ==List of known Augmentations== * The Dream Eater (technical name, DR-3AT implant) - augmentation used by the Observers; * The Synthetic Respiratory Tract - augmentation designed to support or even replace lungs, laging and pharynx. (Janus Jurkowuski, the Janitor, has a Aether Series 2 Dem model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect a nanite instability due to its obsolescence); * The Arm Prosthesis - augmentation designed to replace diseased arms. (Janus Jurkowuski, the Janitor, has a Pallas 2.1B model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect an exposed wiring due to its obsolescence); * The Leg Prosthesis - augmentation designed to replace diseased legs. (Janus Jurkowuski, the Janitor, has a Agon 6600 model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect that its structural integrity is compromised due to the obsolescence); * The Synthetic Spine - augmentation designed to replace spinal columns. (Janus Jurkowuski, the Janitor, has a Atlas 1.6B model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect a lubricant leak due to the obsolescence); * The Cerebral Prosthesis - augmentation designed to support or even replace parts of the brain. (Janus Jurkowuski, the Janitor, has a Mnemocore 1.2 model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect that its maintenance period is expired); * The Limb Support Implants - augmentation designed to support and improve arms and legs strength, thanks to a reinforced skeleton and hydraulic joints. (Victor Maderski has a Ioke 3.4 CRM model of this augmentation - through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect the presence of unregistered military grade technology); * The Blade Implant - augmentation designed to provide hands with claws. (Victor Maderski has a custom and unregistered model of this augmentation—through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect tissue inflammation due to a mild bacterial infection); * The Speech Synthesizer - augmentation designed to support vocal cords, and often used by long time Feed addicts. (Amir Nowak has a Teles 220 model of this augmentation—through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect that its warranty is expired); * The Artificial Heart Valve - augmentation designed to support heart beating. (Amir Nowak has a Aegle 2.1—LT model of this augmentation—through Electromagnetic Vision it's possible to detect overclocking); * The Cognition Enhancing Augmentation (CEA) - augmentation designed to cure mental issues. (Paulina Madeja, the little girl affected by Childhood Disintegrative Disorder or CDD—also known as Heller's Syndrome—cannot benefit due to probable rejection her body would show on extensive implantation); * The Consumer Grade Communication Device - (technical name of a known model, Hermes 3345) a communication implant worn around the wrist. * The Internal Data Storage - (technical name of a known model, CT-72) a type of implant that allows for storing information internally.
